BODMAS Simplification Without Brackets

We must remember the word BODMAS in solving sums on simplification.

 BODMAS stands for

Brackets in the order ( ), { }and [ ]

Order of <roots Or powers >

Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction

Simplification or simplify fractions means to simplify a complicated mathematical expression to get a single or direct answer.

Illustration 1 : Solve 12 + 8 - 4

Step 1: solve the Addition section first , ( 12 + 8 ) = 20

Step 2: after solving the addition,solve the subtraction,  ( 20 - 4 ) = 16

Hence the result is ( 12 + 8 - 4 ) = 16

Illustration 2 : Solve 14 + 8 – 2 × 3

Step 1: solve the Multiplication section first , ( 2 × 3 ) = 6

Step 2: after solving the Multiplication ( 14 + 8 – 6 )  solve the addition,  ( 14 + 8 = 22 )

step 3: after solving the addition ( 22 – 6 )  Then solve the subtraction,  22 - 6 = 16

Hence the result is ( 14 + 8 – 2 × 3 ) = 16
